Once upon a time, there was a young man named Brent. He belonged to Orson and Annie Talbot. He was very shy, very tall, and once very skinny. And within a few miles of this young man was a sweet young thing named Sherlie. Her parents were Remola and Eldon Smith. She was a, tall pretty cheerleader, who loved to talk.
This lovely couple met by Sherlie hanging around with Anna Talbot, (who just happened to be Brent’s sister.) This couples romance budded at this point. But, it didn’t totally bloom till two years later when, Brent finally got up enough courage to drop by and see her. But he still didn’t have enough courage to go to the door, instead
Brent was soon drafted into the Army, and left Sherlie waiting for him. (Thanks to you Mom, we. now all have that same left in a lurch waiting syndrome) Brent still not having enough courage to do things face to face sent the rock, in a sweater box for Christmas. Stupid Sherlie was now a marked widow for her whole Senior year of High School. Twenty-two days after Brent returned home, or on August 22, 1953 this couple was sealed together in the St. George Temple. And on the 21 of August, they were endowed in the Salt lake Temple. Because of a small mix up in the Temple in St. George, this same couple was forty-five minutes late for their own wedding reception. And, ever since then, they have found it hard to make it on time to anything.
This couple moved into a small apartment in Cedar, where they resided till the space became quite cramped. They then moved into a small, pink- orange five roomed house in Parowan.
While residing in both places, Brent’s employment was for Leigh’s Furniture in Cedar, where he learned the following phrases. Don’t ding that item up, This is a deluxe model, and I'm in a bind.

On August 21, 1956 after three years of trying, a baby was finally born to this couple. But, after wait1ng in the labor room for over sixty- four hours, Sherlie was ready to send the baby back. Mitzie was what they named their first cute bouncing baby girl. Of course since she was their first child, she was terribly spoiled by everyone especially by Grandpa Smith.
On March 19. 1958 was due a playmate for Mitzie. This pregnancy was alot easier on Sherlie and it only took her thirteen hours to have Tammie their second child. In the process of coming out, Tammie ruined her Mothers hearing, and her back. And, from that day on Tammie has proved to be quite a pain, at times.
Tammie and Mitzie were little helper girls for their parents, they did the shopping for their mother, cut each other’s hair, and were their Dads buddies to run errands with. All of a sudden Sherlie started getting sick, so these girls really had to be good helpers. Then Sherlie started getting fat, another baby was differently on the way. This baby was born on June 21, 1961 they named this girl Natalie.
Little did Sherlie know that this chick was going to be a real problem child. When Natalie was born, the placenta decided it wanted to come first instead of last, so that left Natalie in the middle fighting it out. This was truly an emergency, the doctor decided on a c section.

But without proper deadening so, Sherlie took a fast trip home. After a lot of screaming from the doctor and nurses, she came back and her and Natalie made it out all right.
As I said earlier, Natalie was a problem child, it was her who kept us all walking the floor all day long just to shut her up. They say, she had colic but, I think she was really spoiled.
The decision to move into a bigger home was made when Tammie saturated Natalie in a pool of vomit, and left Mitzie high and dry. This decision was also made by Brent receiving a job offer in the big city (St. George) It was a managers position. But the big house didn’t come on a silver platter, they first had to live, in a crude dwelling, on Bat Avenue, next to Cockroach Lane.(or above Leigh’s Furniture)
Seven years had passed since their last child, so Brent and Sherlie decided to try one more time for their boy. Yes, and for the fourth time they failed. Beckie was born on April 9, 1968, so Brent said that this was it, no more tries. From that day in April, this baby tried their patience, with her numerous ailments.
Brent and Sherlie have survived many obstacles childhood diseases, the delinquent teens, missionary widows, a daughter’s marriage, and poverty. For a relationship to last through all that, for twenty-five years, there must be something there besides worldly things. So, to you Mom and Dad today we give this tribute and thank you for putting up with all our pranks, practical jokes, and the trials and tribulations that we have given you so far, and those that are yet to come.
